Obama vs Hillary vs McCain on Facebook!

I wrote about the singer and star of WE WILL ROCK YOU, MiG Ayesa and his clever use of new media a couple of weeks back. As mentioned then, MiG is on Facebook, Youtube, MySpace – you name it, he’s on it.

Of course, he’s not alone in this. You look at the Facebook pages, and you will see anyone and everyone from David Beckham to Carrie Underwood having their pages and fansites there.

And of course, no person is more of a whiz at drumming up support than a politician! Take a look at the Facebook pages and you will see more links to their other websites, MySpace pages, and more.

Perhaps, not surprising, Obama’s page is ranked number 1 on Facebook, with 772,905 fans as of 15 minutes ago.

Hillary was a few positions lower with 146,816 fans and much lower down is McCain with 112,940 fans.

Hm… I wonder if these pages and the figures represent a microcosm of the larger voting public of America…

I sure HOPE so!! Go Obama!! Love seeing a blog that references both MiG and Obama at the same time!

As you can see, your blog has crept out into the MiG world because of google alerts set up for all things MiG! Interesting, these alerts, eh?

  3. blogscapes says:

    Hi 2ton and miggyfan,

These alerts are indeed interesting! What a way to keep updated. And I can see miggyfan is a Mig fan and of others too!

  4. 2ton says:

I do wish I had the time to fangirl for others, but I only have time to do for MiG. I must prioritize. (I do manage to sneak a bit of time on Brian’s (Brian May) Soapbox) The internet could swallow me whole if I let it! There are hidden, and not so hidden perils out there in the blogscape!

    Hi 2ton,

It’s no joke keeping up with all the alerts! And you are doing such an excellent job with MiG!

  6. miggyfan says:

Yup, you’re right blogscapes, Obama is my OTHER rock star! Haha!!

  7. 2ton says:

I was looking at your tags list an it made me realize that there is a whole “other” language out there. The language of blogs, message boards, and chats.

  8. blogscapes says:

Yes, I realised that too. Initially, when I started, it was quite confusing, what with the categories and tags and all, and the ‘language’ keeps evolving too! I guess it all takes some getting used to. There’s quite a nice term for all these tags – folksonomy – it’s like we tag the info the way we want, rather than the way things are prescribed conventionally. So in a way, they are more true to how the info is seen by society.
